Bio

Cali Life Style, originating from Santa Maria, California, emerged in 1992 as a pioneering force in the Chicano rap scene. Founded by rapper T-Dre (Terry Yap) and Delux (Dominic Marciano), the group set out to represent the underground Chicano youth of Southern California's 805 area through raw, unfiltered beats and lyrics.

Their debut album, The Mexican Invasion (1995), with its lead single "Coastin'," quickly became an underground success, receiving airplay across the Southwestern United States, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. Known for its dark synth rap and electro-funk samples, this album introduced the world to Central California's Chicano culture, setting Cali Life Style apart from other Chicano rappers of the time. With YouTube views and fan engagement continuing to climb, "Coastin’" remains a signature track that fans return to.

Following this, they released Tell It Like It Is (1999) and Sun Up 2 Sun Down (2001). While initially receiving limited attention, these albums are now celebrated for their creative integration of 80s electro-funk and impactful contributions to the Chicano rap genre. These songs, too, see consistent growth in YouTube views, solidifying their place in the history of West Coast rap.

As of November 2024, Cali Life Style’s influence remains strong, with over 160 million streams across platforms and approximately 778,700 monthly listeners on Spotify. Tracks like "Coastin'" and "Get Higher" have maintained their popularity, appealing to audiences worldwide.

Through their authentic portrayal of Chicano culture and innovative musical style, Cali Life Style has become a lasting influence in West Coast rap. They continue releasing new music and videos through their partnership with Silent Giant Entertainment, founded and led by long-time collaborator Edward "E-Dub" Rios. As founder and president of Silent Giant Entertainment and producer of the Pocos Pero Locos syndicated radio program, E-Dub plays a key role in elevating Chicano music culture. This partnership allows Cali Life Style to connect with both dedicated fans and a new generation of listeners.
